28th December 2023: End of Year Post
As we’re getting closer to the end of the year I figure I’ll make a little post to conclude the year.
Looking back at all the things I've crocheted this year, I’m happy to say I'm proud of how far I've come. At the beginning of the year I felt like I'm already reaching my limit with a scarf (which is all wool in a beautiful shade of forest green but sadly has shrunk to the point it's unsalvageable because not knowing better I have been tossing it into the washing machine more than once. Oh well.) Anyway, I was then introduced to making amigurumi and I feel like I've been on a roll since. It feels great to overcome the learning curve and now I can handle most crochet patterns that I like and crocheting became like second nature to me. Special mention to the dragon and the Christmas mice which are two of my lengthiest projects this year. I'm very happy with how they turned out and I learned so many things about crocheting along the way.
In the coming year I want to branch out a bit and make more non-plush things. Gloves, hats, sweaters, blankets, home decor, just cool stuff that will make really good gifts for the holidays. I've made a hat for my mom and the thing I struggle with is to have the patience to finish a single piece. I've had at least two other unfinished hats because I just find the repetition dull. Speaking of which, I'd also like to revisit some of the unfinished pieces I've made and try to finish them. I've been tidying up my desk and realised I have at least 5-6 things I've been meaning to finish but never had the energy to. Such are the struggles of a procrastinating multitasker.
I also want to try making some of my own patterns. Again I struggle with having the patience for trial and error. But we'll see how that goes.
Site improvement wise, I'll work on making images load faster, and giving the whole site a slightly more modern look.
I'm very grateful for the people I've bonded with over crocheting, and the craft will always have a special place in my heart.
